Cavity Filling Research in recent years has shown
that amalgam fillings in the mouth must now be replaced with other
materials. The problems that occur with old composite filling materials,
such as color changes and issues of durability are solved with the new
generation composites. The Microdentistry method must now be used for
children and with starting decays. When a large amount of material is
lost, teeth can be restored by using porcelain, metal onlay or inlay
prepared in the laboratory, instead of the invasive methods previously
used.

Laminate
Laminate is a kind of restoration that is used when there are large
fillings on both the top and the front teeth, or when teeth become
smaller due to the narrowing of the distance between the nose and the
chin or when there are cosmetic concerns due to gaps between the front
teeth.

When there is a decrease in
size in the vertical axis, lamination is used after the restorations
have been made to the molars.
For laminate applications, only minimal preparation is needed for the
front of the teeth. Laminates are then prepared as thin porcelain. In
this way, the natural texture of the teeth is reflected on the surface
of the laminate. Thus, a very aesthetic and natural look can be
maintained.
Crown and Bridge
Bridge prosthetics used for missing teeth is an outdated treatment.
Instead, implant applications are now recommended. The reasons for this
transition are detailed in the section called “Implant”.
Teeth that have lost excess amounts of tissue or
have had canal treatments are restored with crowns that are supported
with metal, zirconium or sometimes even just porcelain. An important
step is being able to fit the crown onto the prepared tooth’s shoulder,
otherwise all crowns that do not adapt to the tooth will result in
causing the tooth to decay and colouration of the gum. Zirconium is a
metal alloy with high durability, biocompatibile and is pervious to
light. From a cosmetic point of view, it is this ability to pass light
that makes zirconium superior in a cosmetic aspect. Zirconium can be
safely used on those that have gum problems.

Implant
The greatest advantage of this system is that healthy tooth tissue is
not subjected to trauma. In addition, lost bone, in locations where
teeth have been pulled, is largely regained with implant applications.
Dentures, or complete prosthetics generally used for elderly people tend
to move inside the mouth, however, with this technique, this problem can
be solved successfully.

Periodontics- Gums
Healthy gums are required for healthy teeth. Conventional toothbrushes
and toothpaste are not sufficient for the upkeep of healthy gums. The
periodical cleaning of teeth and the utilization of various cleaning
tools are a must (dental floss, special brushes, etc). The decision to
undergo gum operations must be taken very seriously. In gum diseases
that have incurred bone loss, it is not sufficient to only cut the gums
and to scale the surface of the teeth but in order to obtain successful
results in these kinds of treatments, bone grafts and membranes must
also be used.
Tooth Whitening
Teeth that have turned yellow due to age, smoking, and genetic reasons
or from the use of the tetracycline group of antibiotics are whitened
with methods that are applied in the doctor’s office or are able to be
done at home. It is not recommended, however, that over-the-counter
products, sold in the market for this purpose, be used.

Protective
Treatments
Teeth must be cleaned once
every six months. Special ultrasonic devices, working with serum
physiologicals, are used for this process.
Dangling front teeth are
connected to each other using special methods ensuring that bone loss,
as a result, is prevented.
Snoring is significantly
reduced by utilizing an anti-snoring apparatus.
By using night plates to
prevent teeth grinding at night, related tooth corrosion and
articulation problems are solved.
